“I love playing my instrument”

“I love playing it every day”

“My music makes people happy!”

Performance Etiquette:

Bring your own stand and music (you can borrow a stand from me, if you don’t have one).

Have your music organized and clipped into a binder, so it cannot fall off the stand!

Take REALLY good care of your instrument!  Treat it like a baby or a pet: be very gentle, and don’t let it get too hot or too cold!

Smile!  If you’re scared, pick a spot to focus on, above someone’s head on the back row, and everyone will think you’re smiling at them!

Do NOT talk to your neighbor!  The only time you can talk is when an elephant walks through the room.  Then you can say ‘Hey!  There’s an elephant walking through the room!”

Dress nice (no holes in your clothes, no drab colors)

Watch me!  Watch me!  Watch me!

Bow at the end!  As you bend down say in your mind "Are my shoes tied?"  When when you come back up, smile and say "Yes they are"!  (Watch me, so we do it all together!)

Be polite to the audience.  Talk to them AFTER the show is over! (They are often lonely, and love to have someone say ‘Hello’, especially a child)!

Thank your parents for the wonderful opportunity they are giving you to learn music, the ‘Language of Heaven’!  Thank me for teaching you! :-)

Please be on time! 15 minutes MINIMUM before the published start time, so you can be tuned and placed.

Please don't expect me to do any repairs on your instrument at the performance.  I try to handle emergencies, but don't wait to get your instrument repaired; go to a shop or make an appointment with me before the performance date!
